Don Procopio Full Score

Description

Don Procopio is a sparkling Italian two-act opera buffa, composed by Bizet in Italy in 1858-59 as an envoi to be sent back to the Institut in Paris as evidence of his work as holder of the Prix de Rome in composition. It was first performed in Monte Carlo in 1906 in a version devised by Charles Malherbe.

The volumes are printed on high-quality paper 22.5 x 32 cm, in a stiff paper binding. The scores include Dialogue in its proper place and provide Critical Notes that summarise the history of the work and itsĀ  sources and give information on alternative versions and readings. The scores are laid out in a manner that best serves the reader or conductor. Since it was normal in French music of this period to call for clarinets and brass instruments in a variety of different keys, often simultaneously, these lines are printed at sounding pitch (in the orchestral parts the players are reading the original pitches).

Performance material is available on hire.
